Decaf Coffee: The Underrated Gem of the Coffee World

Decaf Coffee: The Underrated Gem of the Coffee World
Stephen Coda

For years, decaf coffee has been the underdog—often dismissed as the lackluster alternative to its caffeinated counterpart. It has been plagued by a history of inferior beans, harsh chemical processes, and a reputation for weak, uninspiring flavour. But times have changed and so has decaf.

We champion decaf when it's done right. With premium-grade single-origin beans, a 100% chemical-free decaffeination process, and small-batch roasting to ensure peak freshness, decaf transforms into a rich, flavourful brew that serious coffee lovers can enjoy anytime—without the caffeine jitters.

Introducing Mexican Decaf: A Decaf That Stands Tall

Crafted to rival the finest caffeinated coffees, this blend is set to impress even the most devoted coffee purists and convert those who’ve had less-than-pleasant decaf experiences in the past.

Your Questions, Answered

Is decaf real coffee?

Decaf is made from real coffee beans; the only difference is that most of the caffeine has been removed.

What beans do you use in Mexican Decaf?

Our Mexican Decaf features 100% Arabica beans sourced from Chiapas, Oaxaca, and Veracruz—renowned coffee-growing regions in Mexico. These high-altitude beans (grown at over 700 MASL) are harvested between October and March, ensuring top-tier quality.

How is the caffeine removed?

Using the Mountain Water Decaffeination Process, a natural and chemical-free method that preserves the coffee’s depth of flavour. The beans are first soaked in pristine glacier water, then steamed and immersed in a caffeine-saturated water solution from a previous batch. Through osmosis, caffeine is naturally extracted while the essential coffee flavours remain intact. The result? A decaf coffee that maintains its bold and complex profile

Is this method safe?

Unlike traditional decaffeination techniques that rely on industrial solvents like methylene chloride (also found in paint stripper), our process is 100% natural, relying solely on water to gently remove caffeine while preserving flavour integrity.

What does Mexican Decaf taste like?

This exceptional decaf boast tasting notes of maple syrup, ripe dates, malt, and subtle hints of blackcurrant, all culminating in a well-rounded, smooth finish. In blind tastings, it consistently scores on par—or even higher—than many caffeinated coffees.

Does it contain any caffeine at all?

The Mountain Water Process removes 99% of the caffeine, leaving just a negligible quantity. That means you can indulge in your favorite brew any time of day without worrying about a sleepless night.

What else should I know about decaf?

Decaf coffee behaves slightly differently than regular coffee due to the caffeine removal process. The beans become more porous, release oils more quickly, and age faster. For the freshest experience, we recommend buying in smaller quantities more frequently rather than stockpiling. And, as always, whole beans are the way to go for maximum freshness and flavour.

Ready to Give Decaf a Second Chance?

Our Mexican Decaf is proof that caffeine-free coffee can be just as rich, robust, and satisfying as any high-quality espresso or filter brew. Whether you’re a lifelong coffee lover looking for a late-night option or someone seeking a smooth, flavourful cup without the buzz, this is the decaf that changes everything.

Try it for yourself—you just might find your new favourite coffee.
